Hey. Got something for ya.
The Travel Duffel 35L: our take on the classic, simple duffel.
The Travel Duffelpack 65L: a monster gear-hauler like none other.
Today, with just 48 hours left in our Kickstarter campaign, we're proud to announce the addition of two beautiful new duffels. Before we say more, watch this video in which Law and Art from the PD team give an overview of what these new duffels are, who they're for, and why we made 'em:
THE SKINNY
The Travel Duffle 35L is Peak Design’s ode to the timeless and utilitarian duffel bag. Carry-on size with a 35L capacity, the 35L Duffle is a perfect weekender, over-nighter, gym bag, or sidekick to one of our larger travel bags. Features removable padded top handles, a removable padded shoulder strap, weatherproof nylon canvas construction, and all-custom aluminum hardware. A burly #10 weatherproof zip gives high-visibility access to a single large volume, sized to work perfectly with our Packing Tools (it fits 3 units).
The Travel Dufflepack 65L is a monster gear-hauler that maximizes your carry capacity without compromising comfort or versatility. Ergonomic padded backpack-style shoulder and waist straps support the heaviest of loads, yet stow instantly beneath magnetically-sealed back panels. Burly side grab handles give quick carrying options. Integrated expansion zips offer a massive 20L of payload expansion (45 min to 65L max). Weatherproof internally-padded nylon canvas offers superior protection and maintains it’s structure for easy loading/unloading. A single burly #10 weatherproof zip runs the length of the bag giving you big, beautiful access. Internal volume is sized to perfectly fit Peak Design Packing Tools (fits 4.5 units) for customizable organization.
WHY DUFFELS?
The duffel is a classic, simple, utilitarian form of carry. A duffel can be used by itself, or as a compliment to another piece of luggage, like the Travel Backpack 45L. We created 2 duffels because in our R&D we learned that use cases and needs really change when you go from carrying a little to carrying a lot.
HOW FAR ALONG ARE THEY?
The concepts of our new bags are sound, but all sorts of fun little details (including exact MSRP) have yet to be honed. That means some things are bound to change about them between now and when we ship them. The upside is that we have an opportunity to bring backers deeper into our design process. If you’re stoked on either of these bags and okay with a bit of the unknown, you can back them and get a killer Kickstarter discount. And if you’d rather wait and see how they evolve before throwing down that hard-earned cash, we totally understand that. The bags will both be available at their eventual MSRP after our Kickstarter backers receive all of their rewards.
HOW DO I GET ME ONE?
You've got 2 options:
1) Back this project and pick a reward that contains either or both of those products. We just added 3 new rewards, including the gargantuan Whole Enchilada Trifecta. We recommend sitting down before backing that reward. It's a doozy.
2) Back this project and use the Add-On Menu to add either or both of those products to your reward a-la-carte. See the top FAQ regarding how to use the Add-On Menu.
WHY THESE BAGS? WHY NOW?
What you've seen so far of the Peak Design Travel Line is just the beginning. Eventually we'll offer a full line of carry styles for a even a wider range of needs. We started this campaign with the Travel Backpack 45L. Now, with just days left, we've added 2 beautiful new duffels. While they’re still in the design phase (and hence will ship est. April 2019) we’d like to give our most passionate and loyal customers the chance to pre-order them here on Kickstarter. In doing so, not only will you get a screamin’ Kickstarter deal, you’ll also get to take a ride with our design team as we continue to hone the form and features of these products in the coming months.
MORE PICTURES PLEASE
Sure thing. First, the Travel Duffle 35L:
Now for some Travel Dufflepack 65L.
WHAT IF I'M INTERESTED BUT NOT READY TO PULL THE TRIGGER?
If you're already a backer you can wait until your post-Kickstarter survey (sent via a service called BackerKit) to make the call. We'll likely send those a few weeks after our campaign is finished, and you'll likely have at least a month before you have to complete it.
WHEN WILL THESE SHIP?
We currently expect the Duffel and Duffelpack to ship in April 2019. If your reward contains a Duffel/Duffelpack plus other items, those other items will ship separately in the December timeframe.
Because these duffels are still in the design phase, things (including shipping date) can change. April 2019 is a very conservative estimate, but it's not a guarantee. We will most definitely share our design progress with the Kickstarter community and keep you fully abreast of any changes in schedule, just as we always do.
WHEW.
Holy moly. Wowie zowie. Zoinks. And of course, giggity.
Thank you for your incredible support folks. Here's to a big finish!

Our head designer Art discusses patterning with Adriaan, our contract manufacturing partner. We've come a long way since this pic was shot 3 weeks ago. Production has begun on a total of 250K products (including bags, pouches, and accessories).
6 days left. Over 10,000 backers. Closing in on $4M. Thank you, thank you, thank you for your support. We still have a few things up our sleeve before this whole shebang winds down. Let's get straight to it:
DUFFLE UPDATE
Last week we announced some big news...a couple of HAWT duffle bags that we've been working on. Then we asked what you thought. Over 1500 folks responded to our survey and we've spent the week scouring your feedback. Turns out, you're stoked (whew).
Kiran posing (like REALLY going all out) with a prototype of our Travel Dufflepack, the larger of 2 new duffles we're developing for the Travel Line
Here's the crazy thing...we've already got a new round of prototypes headed to our office and boy oh boy are we liking what we see. The plan is to examine/photograph/video those prototypes on Monday, and share them with y'all on Tuesday via update and live hangout (to be scheduled). The goal is to make them available for backers to pre-order before our campaign ends on Thursday. Stay tuned!
EVERYTHING YOU EVER WANTED TO KNOW ABOUT CAMERA CUBES BUT WERE AFRAID TO ASK
Our Art Director Lawrence went above and beyond the call of duty for this massive deep dive video, which covers anything and everything you could possibly want to know about the photo/video carry features of the Travel Backpack and separately available Camera Cubes. Not as laugh-out-loud funny as the video that Adam made, but still pretty good.
THE REVIEWS ARE ROLLING IN
Over the course of this campaign we've sent out a handful of pre-production units to various publications and reviewers. Here are our favorite in-depth video reviews:
SEE 'EM ALL IN PERSON
If you're in San Francisco or Seattle, you can see the Travel Line live and in-person! In the Bay Area, just head on down to the Peak Design Flagship store in Hayes Valley. In Seattle, you can check the gear out at Trueform, a sleek and highly curated retail store full of design-forward products.
As always, here are a few projects that we think are nifty.
LUMAPOD: The first ultralight travel tripod of it's kind.
We like traveling. We like tripods. We don't like traveling with tripods. This is Lumapod's first Kickstarter, and they've designed an ultralight, quickly deployable tripod that is unlike anything else out there.
The Colombians know a thing our two about growing, roasting, and brewing a great cuppa Joe. And as San Franciscans, we know a thing or two about discussing coffee with unapproachable hoity-toityness. This new-fangled coffee maker seeks to honor the sweet body of Colombian beans while leaving out the bitter crema that is typically left in with other brewing methods.
SUPER STRAPS: A backpack strap stress relieving gadget.
Our dear friend Katherine Krug was the first woman to raise over $1M on Kickstarter and she's one of our favorite go-tos for crowdfunding advice. Super Straps is her 2nd crowdfunding project aimed at relieving everyday back pain. In this case, stress from carrying a backpack.

Meet the Travel Duffle and the Travel Dufflepack!
Both bags are still actively being designed, but we are excited to show them off so we can gauge community reaction and incorporate feedback. Hooray crowdfunding! The plan is to try and release them during the last week of the campaign for preorder through backing!
Why introduce them now? 1) Because they are the perfect compliment to a 45L Travel Backpack. 2) Because this campaign was feeling a little too pulled together: answers to all the questions, a fully-baked design and ecosystem of products, beautiful photos, a killer video, etc. What's better than introducing a few new bags for sowing a little chaos?
These bags are not on the add-on menu or available in a reward bundle at this time. Right now we are in information-gathering mode, and we want your help!
Watch this video if you missed the hangout and get all the details on these prototypes:
When you're done watching the hangout, TAKE OUR FEEDBACK SURVEY:
What are the deets?
Duffles are timeless and utilitarian, and these two formats incorporate the thoughtfulness, protection, versatility, and clean looks that you have come to expect from Peak Design. Both bags feature high-visibility openings via a single zip. Both have great weatherproofing from both material selection and minimal ingress points. Both bags will be available in black and sage. Scroll on to learn some more about each bag.
Travel Duffle
The Travel Duffle is a carry-on size bag with removable padded top handles and a removable padded shoulder strap. It is as beautiful as it is simple and is a perfect companion to both the 45L Travel Backpack or any number of our Everyday Bags. It will likely hold somewhere between 35-40 liters, accomodate 3 Packing Units of PD Cubes, and will retail for somewhere between $139-$189.
Travel Dufflepack
The Travel Dufflepack is a monster gear hauler. In addition to conveniently located grab handles, it has stowable backpack straps and a stowable padded waist belt. The Dufflepack has integrated expansion that adds massive amounts of space to the bag's capacity. It will likely hold somewhere between 40-45 liters, expand to 60-65 liters, accomodate 4 Packing Units of PD Cubes, and will retail for somewhere between $199-$299.
Both bags will ship later than the rest of our Travel Line Kickstarter rewards. Right now, our best guess is next April.
Something to keep in mind as you are formulating your opinions on these puppies: they are still in development and ALL OF THIS IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE! We are hoping to have another round of sampling completed in the coming days, and with that will come a whole new slew of videos and pictures. Ok that's all the time we have for writing a hangout, we have to go finish designing these bags. Also, if you haven't yet:
Things are happening. Bag-ish things.

HEY, WHAT ARE THESE?
Huh. They look like bags of some sort. But they don't look like the Travel Backpack 45L, or any of our other bags for that matter. Weird.
So dark. So mysterious. You should probably come to our next Kickstarter hangout this Friday at 2pm PT to find out more. Pop it on your calendar. It's gonna be a doozy. As a reminder, you can just come to our Kickstarter page (at the scheduled time/date) and stream it live.
NEW VIDEO: PACKING TOOLS, THE UNTOLD STORY
Our Art Director Lawrence goes golfing, and our Marketing Director Adam tries to fill his shoes in this wacky, laugh-a-minute rom-com, available now on Blu-Ray and DVD.
Learn the ins and outs of our versatile line of Packing Tools, including Packing Cubes, Tech Pouch, Wash Pouch, Shoe Pouch, and Rain Fly. We're making a separate video all about Camera Cubes, which we'll post and share soon.
If you want to jump to a specific section, please see the timestamps below:
If you liked the Tamagotchi, you'll probably like Vector. If you hated the Tamagotchi, you'll probably still like Vector, dad. You know we like to share the Kickstarter love, and our Friends and Anki have a hugely successful project on their hands, with just hours left to pledge!
PREVIOUS HANGOUT: CAMERA CUBES GALORE
For those with questions about Camera Cubes, camera carry, camera/lens/drone capacity and so-forth, watch this video. We show how our Camera Cubes pack up, what they fit, and how to arrange them in the Travel Backpack 45L. If you go to the description on our YouTube page you can see timestamps to specific sections.
Whew, that was a fun update. Well, guess that's all for now.
OH WAIT THIS:
Wonder what fella doing with these two duffels of his OH NO WE'VE SAID TOO MUCH
See you Friday, 2pm PT, right back here on the KS page.

The Everyday Sling 5L, now available in sage, fits like a glove in the Travel Backpack 45L. Color shown: sage.
Backers, please join us in welcoming the Everyday Sling 5L, the perfect on-the-go day pack for camera or everyday carry, into this Kickstarter campaign!
WHAT IS IT?
The Everyday Sling 5L is a cross-body sling-style pack with customizable internal storage, ideal for carrying both camera gear and everyday essentials. It has a 5L capacity, and can be worn in cross-body sling or a waist bag. In some parts of the world they call it a "fanny pack," but we don't see anything particularly hilarious about that.
The 5L Sling (in black) modeled by our Marketing Director Adam, wearing his favorite cloak of invisibility. Adam is a level 7 Paladin with 42 hit points. He works from home and needs friends.
This is Lara, friend of Peak Design, who likes to take her 5L Sling to the Barton Creek Greenbelt in Austin, TX and stare wistfully into the distance. Color shown: black.
WHAT'S SO GREAT ABOUT IT?
Well, it's an outstanding minimalist day pack to begin with. But the real kicker here is that the Everyday Sling 5L fits perfectly into the main compartment of the Travel Backpack 45L. This makes it an excellent addition to your Travel Line kit. Use it as your personal item on the plane. Use it as your deployable day-bag when you want to leave the hotel with just the essentials. Use it as your on-the-go camera or drone bag. And when you're not using it, you can pack it inside the Travel Backpack 45L or carry it separately using it's padded shoulder strap or carry handle.
The 5L Sling fits perfectly into the main compartment of the Travel Backpack 45L, making it an instantly-deployable day bag. Color shown: sage.
The 5L Sling has a shoulder strap and a hand strap so you can easily carry it outside your Travel Backpack 45L. Color shown: sage.
WHAT'S NEW WITH IT?
In 2017 we launched the Everyday Sling 5L in two colors: black and ash. Now, for the first time ever, you can pre-order it in our new sage color-way to match the rest of the sage bags in our Travel Line. You can also order it in black or ash.
The 5L Sling is now available in 3 color-ways: sage (with silver hardware and dark sage straps - shown), black (with black hardware and black straps), and ash (with silver hardware and grey/leather straps).
SWEET. HOW DO I ADD IT TO MY PLEDGE?
Easy. Go to our Kickstarter page. Assuming you've already pledged, click the "Manage my pledge" button. Add $85 to your reward. Done. When the campaign is over, we'll send a survey to collect your color choice.
That price—$85—is $15 off the $100 retail price. Plus, you won't have to pay any extra shipping! This deal is exclusively for our Kickstarter backers.
Note that there's a chance that the sage 5L Slings will not be ready at the same time as the rest of our Travel Line. If that happens (and you pre-ordered a sage 5L Sling) we will ship your Sling in a separate shipment at a later date at no extra cost to you.
DOPE. I WANT TO LEARN MORE ABOUT IT.
First, watch this design deep dive video:
Then, watch this classic Larry Landers instructional video:
AMAZING. CAN I JUST SEE SOME MORE PRETTY PICTURES?
Yes. You can.
Wear the 5L Sling as a cross-body sling bag, or instantly convert it to a waist bag. In the US? You can say fanny pack. In the EU? You can't say that. Color shown: ash.
Inside the 5L Sling's main opening you'll find pockets for all the little stuff. Color shown: ash.
A front zip pocket gives room for your phone, keys, passport, and/or wallet. Color shown: sage.
Carrying photo/video stuff? The 5L Sling can do that. From top to bottom, left to right: mirrorless kit, full frame kit, DJI Mavic kit, DJI Spark kit. Color shown: black.
Have easy on-body access to your stuff. Color shown: ash.
This ain't just a camera bag. The 5L Sling is the perfect size for toting around your everyday essentials. Color shown: sage.
